architectural competition for the Kapnergatis square in Kavala, Greece (Awarded 4th prize)

kapnergatis = worker at tobacco products
Urban square in the commercial center of Kavala. We set up a “scenography” using the warehouse that dominates the square, the symbolisms of the history and the collective memory of the city: agriculture and tobacco industry, social fights.
The monument is the public space itself, the experience of the space. Walking down to an underground exposition hall the visitor walks at a section through time.
